Jean Tinguely was a Swiss sculptor best known for his kinetic art sculptural machines that extended the Dada tradition into the later part of the 20th century. Tinguely's art satirized automation and the technological overproduction of material goods.

LONDON, May 21. -- Great interest is aroused here by the news that Amundsen has started his flight for the North Pole and the outcome of his gallant attempt is eagerly being awaited. Amundsen with his two airplanes had been waiting at Kings Bay, Spitzbergen, for favorable weather.
OSLO, Norway, May 21 (AP). -- Captain Roald Amundsen's polar expedition, which had been delayed at Spitzbergen because of unfavorable weather conditions, had to hop off late this month or early in June, in the opinion of M. Hesselberg, director of the Oslo Meteorological Station, which collected and forwarded information regarding the weather to the north for the benefit of the explorer.
