Introduction

At Birthday Recap, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website.

Information We Collect

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

  • Use our birthday news search tool
  • Use our historical birthday weather tool
  • Create an account or schedule birthday emails
  • Contact us through our contact forms

When you submit a birthday search, we record the submitted date, request time, IP address, browser user agent, referring site domain, country code when supplied by our hosting provider, and basic response metrics.

When you press the birthday recap share or image-download button, we record the birthday date, interaction type, interaction time, and the same request metadata.

When you use Birthday Weather, your selected date and city identifier are sent to our server so it can retrieve one historical weather record. We do not write those weather lookup inputs to our analytics database. Our hosting and storage providers may process standard request metadata and operational logs under their own retention settings. To limit automated abuse, the application temporarily keeps a one-way hash derived from the request IP address in server memory; it is not added to the weather result or archive.

If you create an account, Supabase Auth processes your email address and password. We store your verified account email, birthday-email dates, delivery hours, time zones, and a limited delivery history needed to operate and troubleshoot the service. The application does not receive or store your plaintext password.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and improve our services
  • Respond to your inquiries
  • Analyze website usage to improve user experience
  • Troubleshoot search failures and protect the service from abuse
  • Authenticate your account and deliver birthday emails you schedule

Cookies and Tracking

We use very basic cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your browsing experience and analyze website traffic. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

We use service providers, including Supabase for authentication and data storage and an email-delivery provider for production messages, to process the information needed to provide these features.
