PARIS, Dec. 25. -- It is unlikely, I am informed by persons versed in the lore of American politics, that Nicholas Murray Butler will obtain the Republican nomination for the Presidency in the next election. Dr. Butler may have a legitimate and laudable ambition to be Chief Magistrate of his country. His fellow-citizens will decide that matter for what may be good and sufficient reasons unto themselves.
