IN his quiet, which is to say his usual, fashion, Arthur Hopkins is investigating a bold step -- nothing less than continuing run of "The Petrified Forest" after Leslie Howard leaves the play on June 29. To place another actor in Mr. Howard's role and footsteps would not, as Mr. Hopkins knows, be an unprecedented move.
