THE years after the World War saw the German theatre in a period of a great flowering. We had more great actors than at any other time. There were quite a number of prominent regisseurs, or directors, such as Reinhardt, Jessner, Engel, and so on, who competed sharply and interestingly with one another.
LONDON, Oct. 31. IT can hardly be doubted that Dodie Smith has once again achieved a popular play. "Call It a Day," which was presented by an accomplished cast at the Globe Theatre last night, lacks the irresistible sentimental appeal of "Autumn Crocus," but its sham realism and easy comedy may well be more generally palatable than the sham Ibsenism and easy comedy of "Touch Wood."

Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was a Bahraini royal and politician who served as the prime minister of Bahrain from 10 January 1970 until his death in 2020. He took office over a year before Bahrain's independence on 15 August 1971. At the time of his death, he was the longest-serving prime minister in the world. Under the 2002 Constitution he lost some of his powers, with the King now having the authority to appoint and dismiss ministers.

Ronald Vernie Dellums was an American politician who served as Mayor of Oakland from 2007 to 2011. He had previously served thirteen terms as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California's 9th congressional district, in office from 1971 to 1998, after which he worked as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C.

The Senegalese Socialist Party was a political party in Senegal. PSS was founded in July 1934 by Lamine Guèye, as a split from the French Section of the Workers' International (SFIO). Guèye was the party president, Armand Angrand general secretary and MaÎtre Vidal, Charles Graziani and Amadou Assane Ndoye vice-presidents.
