Far from giving any sign of modifying her policy in China as a result of widespread protests, Japan revealed in a note to the United States that she intended to pursue her present course. The note, which was a reply to a Washington protest of a week ago, was received at the State Department yesterday, but not made public. There was no indication of further action by this country.
