The biggest step forward so far in getting the city's household scrap metal from the salvage heaps to the steel mills was announced yesterday at City Hall by Mayor La Guardia. It was that the Bethlehem Steel Corporation had agreed to move 500 tons of metal a day to its mills directly without using intermediary scrap dealers.
