Thousands of American manufacturing companies and plants of all kinds and sizes, converted from making many varied types of peacetime goods, have participated in the production of guns, shells, small arms ammunition, motor vehicles and miscellaneous munitions of every conceivable kind.

MIAMI, Fla., Jan. 2 -- Whirlaway, the turf's top-money winner, heads a list of forty-nine thoroughbreds nominated for the eighth running of the $25,000 added Widener Challenge Cup Handicap, the richest horse race of the Winter.
