Crops Cut to 3-Year Low By Floods and a Drought; Federal Report Cites No Replanting in Some Areas, but Davis Hopes for Total Yield Equal to 1942 Record
WASHINGTON, June 10 -- A pessimistic crop report today said that prospects were less promising than at any time in the last three years, but a statement afterward by Chester C. Davis, War Food Administrator, said that total food production this year might equal the 1942 record if farmers had average weather and other breaks from now on.
