Robert John Carr is an Australian retired politician and journalist who served as the 39th Premier of New South Wales from 1995 to 2005, as the leader of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party. He later entered federal politics as a New South Wales senator, and served as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2012 to 2013. Following his departure from politics, he served as the director of the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) from 2014 to 2019 at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

Sheikh Hasina is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the tenth prime minister of Bangladesh from June 1996 to July 2001 and again from January 2009 to August 2024. Serving for a combined total of over 20 years, she was the longest-serving prime minister of Bangladesh since the country's independence and the longest-serving female head of government in the world. Critics characterized her premiership with dictatorship, oligarchy and crimes against humanity. She resigned and was exiled to India following the July Revolution in 2024.
