Evatt and Trygve Lie appealed directly to the heads of the United States, British, French and Soviet Governments today to undertake "immediate conversations" to settle the Berlin dispute. Failure to reach an agreement, they said in a letter, would be "a danger to the peace and security of all nations" and would undermine the work of the United Nations.
