STATE OF THE STAGE; Broadway Alarmed by the Shrinkage in Business, Employment and Production

ALARMED by the shrinkage in business, the theatre industry will hold a general symposium next January to study the problem and to hear proposals for a solution. At a time when employment is unprecedentedly high in the country as a whole, more than 80 per cent of the professional actors are unemployed, and the same situation obtains in one degree or another in all the allied professions and crafts.
