COMPENSATION DEAL URGED AS TRADE AID; Emmerich Says Use Is Getting Wider Attention to Ease Dollar Shortage, Exchange Muddle

"Compensation deals" are receiving greater attention in certain quarters in the foreign trade field as an apparent solution of the dollar shortage and the handicaps of a muddled foreign exchange situation. The idea itself is not new and has been used to some extent, but Government restrictions here and abroad were said to militate against its use in regular foreign trade channels.
