The marked curtailment of banking activities resulting from the double holiday last week has focused the attention of bank managements on the problem of "bankless days." Unusually acute because of the incidence of Election and Armistice Days, in the same week, the general problem has been one of continuing concern since the nation-wide trend in recent years toward Saturday closings.

A completely new pricing and quotation basis is being introduced by members of the gray iron foundry industry and quotations applying these new standards are already being used by individual foundries. R. L. Collier, executive vice president of the Gray Iron Founders Society, Cleveland, disclosed here last week that the terms and conditions of sale have been approved by the National Association of Purchasing Agents, including revisions made as recently as September.

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 12 -- Two points short of the season's biggest upset and one away from a tie which, had it been achieved, would have been as great a surprise, the underdog University of Pennsylvania football team nevertheless scored a moral victory over the mighty and undefeated Army today at Franklin Field.
