The celestial drama of daybreak was heightened for most of the eastern half of the United States yesterday morning by a dawn eclipse. As the moon and the sun raced toward the zenith, almost superimposed upon each other for observers here, the moon lagged. And it was almost two hours after sunrise (at 6:21 in New York) before the sun moved out from behind the dark and cold moon.
