WASHINGTON, July 19 -- Dr. John R. Steelman, acting Director of Defense Mobilization, announced today that industry-union negotiations to settle the forty-eight-day-old steel strike would be resumed in Pittsburgh tomorrow morning.

CHICAGO, July 19 -- The Democratic National Committee approved a new party loyalty affirmation today and then voted temporary credentials for the anti-Administration delegations from Texas and Mississippi. It made the latter action subject to a further questioning of the so-called "regular" party leaders from those two states as to whether they would pledge themselves in advance to support the national party ticket in 1952.

CHICAGO, July 19 -- Mark-Ye-Well, the Calumet Farm's substitute for the Kentucky Derby winner, Hill Gail, turned on full power in the stretch of a muddy track today and won the twentyfourth running of the Arlington Classic. It was the richest race ever run for 3-year-olds, and it grossed $150,450 after the Greentree Stable's Tom Fool and J. H. Dunn's Oh Leo had been scratched because of the condition of the track.
