Lincoln Davenport Chafee is an American politician who served as the 74th Governor of Rhode Island from 2011 to 2015. He previously served as United States Senator from 1999 to 2007, and as mayor of Warwick, Rhode Island from 1993 to 1999. A member of the Libertarian Party since 2019, he previously was a Republican until 2007, an independent from 2007 to 2013, and a Democrat from 2013 to 2019. He is the last non-Democrat to hold statewide and/or Congressional office in Rhode Island.

Bush from 2001 to 2009 and as United States secretary of transportation in the first administration of Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021. A member of the Republican Party, Chao was the first Asian American woman to serve in a presidential cabinet. She resigned as transportation secretary after the January 6 United States Capitol attack.
