Rain and flood waters washed out railroad bridges yesterday and sent embankments cascading onto tracks, stalling trains and passengers in many points throughout the East. Major lines, however, worked through the night to provide skeleton service wherever possible. A New York, New Haven and Hartford eastbound freight train derailment at Darien, Conn., late Saturday night still blocked all four tracks of the main line.
