WE have recently learned much of the Negro's mistreatment, but the trials of a single man, when recounted as vividly as Sammy Davis Jr.'s are in his lengthy autobiography, renew and redouble the shock. As a teen-ager in the Army, he is relentleesly taunted by his fellow soldiers; in what appears to be a gesture of friendship, they offer him a bottle of beer; he accepts it, hopefully -- it is a bottle of urine.
