Billy Casper defeated Arnold Palmer by four strokes yesterday to win the United States Open golf championship at the Olympic Country Club in San Francisco. Casper shot a 69 in the 18-hole playoff to 73 for Palmer. They had tied at 278 at the end of the regulation 72 holes Sunday.
