He started his career as a stand-up comedian before expanding his career as an actor on stage and screen. As a comedian he is known for his sharp confrontational observational humor often tackling subjects such as social issues, politics and the absurdities of the human condition. He has received nominations for a Emmy Award and a Grammy Award. In 2017, Rolling Stone ranked him 17th on its list of the "50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time".
