JACKSON, Miss., May 22 —The second victim of the police shooting at Jackson State College was buried to day, and the rich and the powerful came to Jackson to pay their respects and to ex press concern over this vio lent spring on American cam puses. James Earl Green, 17‐ year‐old student and part time grocery clerk, was buried in the dusty Missis sippi earth after thousands of mourners walked under a broiling sun to a little green cemetery one‐half mile from where he and another Negro student were killed and seven others wounded by Mississippi state police last week. Gov. John Bell Wil liams amassed 1,300 National Guardsmen and a large con tingent of highway patrol of ficers here in case of vio lence, which he said he feared. But the munch was peaceful. “You've seen me here five times in 10 years,” Charles Evers, the black May or of Fayette, Miss., told the 4,000 mourners who jammed the oppressively hot hall where the service for the dead student was held. It was in this building in 1963 that services were conducted for Mr. Evers's brother, Medgar, who was head of the Mississippi chapter of the National Asso ciation for the Advancement of Colored People when he was shot to death by a sniper in Jackson.
