Research conducted by Drs H M Temin, S Mizutani, D Baltimore and S Spiegelman reveals that under special circumstances chem RNA can dictate production of DNA, overturning scientific theory that holds process works other way around and helping explain how some viruses cause cancer, repts and ed in Nature (Brit pub); discovery promises to help scientists determine which virus can cause cancer in humans and may ultimately result in new approach to prevention or treatment of cancers; research, sponsored by Natl Cancer Inst and Natl Inst of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which found RNA in cancer-causing virus contains special enzyme known as DNA-polymerase that can make cell and its offspring grow as cancer cells, detailed; Dr G G Todaro says next area of research is whether DNA-polymerase is exclusive to cancer viruses; if it is, it can then be used as test for cancer-producing potential of any virus found in human cancer tissues

White homesteaders occupying 363,520-acre tract on Ft Berthold Reservation, New Town, ND, concerned over their possible eviction in light of Interior Dept's recent opinion that tract is still part of reservation; map; reservation, created in 1851, originally covered large areas in Dakotas, Mont and Wyo, but has become much smaller since Govt began giving land to homesteaders; all-white city govt of New Town, Largest settlement on tract, seeks Fed ct injunction to bar Indians from assuming police jurisdiction; Indians plan appeal to Nixon for decision on land issue
