F .T .C. Seeks to Help Consumers In Credit Fights With Computers

FTC proposes rule to ease some of problems encountered by consumers in dealings with computurized credit accts; rules would outlaw such practices as dissemination of adverse credit information to other businesses without 1st notifying customer, would require name of authorized repr to hear customers' billing complaints to appear on each statement and would make it illegal for creditor to include charge that customer has disputed in writing in future bills without probing facts; outlines procedures for imposing interest or late-payment charges and overpayments; agency reprs say bill has been drafted as result of numerous consumer complaints of billing errors
