Oh, To e Rich And Sexy in Venice

JUST before the house lights went down at a preview of Luchino Vis conti's “Death in Venice” (now playing at the Little Carnegie Theater), I overheard the following con versation between two young people. By their dress, manner and vocabulary, they had already proclaimed themselves to be members of the hip New York scene, that group of achieving survivors whose identity, I suspect, is largely de fined by the consumer goods they elect to purchase, and by the promotion and advertising by which those elections are rigged. The Hip Young Man and the Hip Young Woman had obviously heard about the film's rave reviews in London, and about its 25th Anniversary Award at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Sérgio Clåudio dos Santos, better known as Serginho, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a left-back, left midfielder or left winger. Known for his speed and energetic attacking runs down the wing, he won the Champions League twice, as well as the Serie A title, among other trophies with AC Milan. At international level, he also represented Brazil at the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup and was part of the team that won the 1999 Copa América. Post retirement, he has acted as manager and agent for former teammate Dida.
