Charley Winner, former coach of the St. Louis Cardinals, was named yesterday to coach the New York Jets, beginning with the 1974 season. He is a son‐in‐law of Weeb Ewbank, the Jets' coach‐general manager, who has said he will give up coaching after the 1973 season. Details on Page 23.
