I NEVER liked to live in cities. We always chose the country if we could. So when we returned from England in 1940, after living there for seven years, we came out to Remsenburg, where my daughter had a house. We rented that first summer, found our property and, except for a trip to Hollywood for a year to write “Weekend at the Waldorf,” we have made this our permanent home ever since.
