Brookhaven Natl Lab scientists Dr Arthur Tingle and Bernard Manowitz, using computer model, trace spread of pollution that fouled 70 miles of LI beaches; find pollution was probably combination of raw sewage from NY Harbor and NJ shoreline, dumpings from ocean-going ships, charred wood from recent pier fires and floatables from sludgeholding tank that exploedd near Island Park, LI; computer study also indicates that half of all material in at least 65 miles wide and 150 miles long would also be carried to beach; attendance at beaches was down by 75% despite reopening; about 100 Job Corps trainees to begin cleanup; map (M)
