There are no fewer than 41 public nature centers within a 50&#8208;mile radius of mid&#8208;Manhattan. Each is dedicated to heightening our awareness of the natural world and preserving what's left of it. And each offers, in addition to naturalist trips and guided walks, special programs in the arts and natural sciences.
