CAREY AND U.S. AIDE AGREE TO WORK OUT CITY TRANSIT GRANTS

Gov Carey and Goldschmidt, after September 25 meeting, agree that combined transit needs of NYC and the state can and will be met,' joint NYC news conference; meeting comes hours after President Carter, in speech to American Public Transit Association's convention, NYC, pledges that NY will not lose Federal funds because of technicality; Goldschmidt says application for financing 6-year transit plan had been received by Urban Mass Transportation Administration's regional office; agency spokesman Joseph Marshall contends that even if application was not forwarded to Washington, officials would have known of its existence; Metropolitan Transportation Authority produces copies of March 1979 letters addressed to regional director Hiram Walker; MTA spokesman Arthur G Perfall says letters accompanied booklets that were forwarded to regional office and that MTA regarded booklets as applications; aides to Carter and Goldschmidt reiterate that booklets and letters were not regarded as applications; illus of Carter and MTA Chmn Harold L Fisher (M)

On 9 November 2016 his second cabinet dissolved after coalition partners, Union of Pro Patria and Res Publica and Social Democratic Party, sided with the opposition in a no confidence motion. At the end of 2020, RÔivas announced quitting politics, and resigned from his parliament seat.
