Car-Parts Suppliers Foresee Upheaval; State's Auto-Parts Industry Girds for Major Changes

NEW HAVEN AFTER a three-month period in which the American automobile industry recorded losses of $1.5 billion, Connecticut car-part manufacturers are feeling the effects. The Armstrong Rubber Company's July 16 announcement that early next year it would close its oldest tire plant, in West Haven, eliminating 600 jobs, is a example of state problems radiating from Detroit.
