Some are professionals, but many more are amateurs who cart along their easels or carry their sketchpads for the sheer joy of painting or drawing the city's endless parade of images and colors. Like the city's sidewalk musicians and its street-corner mimes, the outdoor artists themselves make a pleasing addition to the summer scene.
