Among the panting joggers in Central Park yesterday morning, 20 applecheeked nature enthusiasts rambled the frigid fields peering into shrubs in what has become one of New York City's hardiest holiday traditions--the Audubon Society's Christmas count of the park's bird life.

Two powerful pipe bombs exploded 13 minutes apart in an unoccupied public locker room at Pennsylvania Station last night, forcing a temporary shutdown of Amtrak and Long Island Rail Road operations and the evacuation of hundreds of passengers, railroad employees and others from the station.
