U.S. Says Tape Shows Missiles On a Libyan Jet

LEAD: The United States said today that it had visual evidence indicating that two Libyan fighter planes were armed when they were shot down Wednesday by Navy fighters over the Mediterranean. It accused Libya of lying in asserting that the planes were unarmed reconnaissance aircraft.

1989Satwant Singh and Kehar Singh are sentenced to death for conspiracy in the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi; the two men are executed the same day.[†]

Satwant Singh was one of the bodyguards, along with Beant Singh, who assassinated the Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, at her New Delhi residence on 31 October 1984. His attacks were in retaliation of Indira Gandhi's Operation Blue Star.
