U.S. JOBLESS RATE SHOWS NO CHANGE
Employers' payrolls grew by a modest 64,000 jobs in December as the nation's unemployment rate remained at 7.3 percent, the Labor Department said today in a report that underscores how slowly the job market is reacting to economic expansion. The figures were somewhat disappointing in light of recent drops in first-time claims for jobless benefits and other indications that the economy is slowly recovering from the recession.
