Two New Jersey Congressmen want the Federal Environmental Protection Agency to resume helicopter monitoring of New Jersey's beaches. The E.P.A. grounded the helicopter last October because the budget battle has left the agency without a 1996 budget, forcing it to limit itself to essential services, said Mary Mears, an E.P.A. spokeswoman. But Representatives Robert Torricelli, Democrat of Englewood, and Frank Pallone, Democrat of Long Branch, say the helicopter is necessary to preserve the quality of the beaches and the $10-billion-a-year coastal tourist industry.
Ugo Colombo is a smallish man with a big taste for finely tailored Italian suits and tall buildings. Very tall buildings. Today, he sits atop Miami's latest luxury-condominium boom -- the first in 15 years and the most extravagant by far -- watching his new project, a 51-floor tower called the Santa Maria, rise on the shores of Biscayne Bay. When completed next year, the $120 million tower will be the tallest residential building south of New York and east of Chicago.

Clarke Douglas Schmidt is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). Schmidt played college baseball for the South Carolina Gamecocks, and was selected by the Yankees in the first round, 16th overall, of the 2017 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2020.

Solomon Eliot Asch (September 14, 1907 â February 20, 1996) was a Polish-American Gestalt psychologist and pioneer in social psychology. He created seminal pieces of work in impression formation, prestige suggestion, conformity, and many other topics. His work follows a common theme of Gestalt psychology that the whole is not only greater than the sum of its parts, but the nature of the whole fundamentally alters the parts. Asch stated: "Most social acts have to be understood in their setting, and lose meaning if isolated. No error in thinking about social facts is more serious than the failure to see their place and function". Asch is most well known for his conformity experiments, in which he demonstrated the influence of group pressure on opinions. A Review of General Psychology survey, published in 2002, ranked Asch as the 41st most cited psychologist of the 20th century.

Audrey Marie Munson was an American artist's model and film actress, considered to be "America's first supermodel." In her time, she was variously known as "Miss Manhattan", the "PanamaâPacific Girl", the "Exposition Girl" and "American Venus." She was the model or inspiration for more than twelve statues in New York City, and many others elsewhere. Munson appeared in four silent films, including unclothed in Inspiration (1915). She was one of the first American actresses to appear nude in a non-pornographic film.

TÅru Takemitsu was a Japanese composer and writer on aesthetics and music theory. Largely self-taught, Takemitsu was admired for the subtle manipulation of instrumental and orchestral timbre. He is known for combining elements of oriental and occidental philosophy and for fusing sound with silence and tradition with innovation.
