Canadian Auto Workers To Bargain With Ford First Ford Motor will be the pattern-setting company in labor negotiations with the Canadian Auto Workers Union, the union announced. The union will first try to reach a deal with Ford, then it plans to follow the industry tradition of demanding that G.M. and DaimlerChrysler accept its terms. The Canadian union said it chose Ford in part because the leader of the American union, Stephen P. Yokich, had narrowed his choices to General Motors and DaimlerChrysler. Industry and labor experts are betting the United Automobile Workers will name DaimlerChrysler as its lead company. [Page C2.]
