 LVMH in Deal With Prada To Take Control of Fendi  The luxury-goods company LVMH-Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton of France has forged an unusual alliance with the Italian fashion house Prada to take control of Fendi, ending a months-long battle for the Rome design house.    Under the agreement, LVMH and Prada paid an undisclosed amount for a 51 percent stake. Advisers said that the two buyers paid about $520 million, which values the company around $1 billion. The sale hands control of Fendi to Bernard Arnault, the chairman of LVMH, and the Prada chairman, Patrizio Bertelli, but leaves the general management in the hands of the five Fendi sisters. With ''Cremaster 2,'' the fourth installment of his projected cycle of five experimental films, Matthew Barney proves beyond a doubt that he is not a cinematic dabbler tossing around ideas that might just as readily be elaborated in performance art or in a video installation. Larger in scale, darker in tone, and much more lavishly produced than the previous installments, ''Cremaster 2,'' which opens today at the Film Forum, is an epic avant-garde western built around classic themes but laced with an intricate (and often whimsical) symbolic framework.    You could drive yourself crazy chasing down the symbolic clues that the film drops and that lend ''Cremaster 2'' its own integral form while also connecting it to the cycle's broader themes. But to obsess too much about the internal mechanics of a work whose connections seem intuitive (and often very loose) would be to overlook its purely cinematic power. Visually and emotionally, ''Cremaster 2'' unfolds as a disturbing, enigmatic dream that has its own forceful rhythms and moods and a haunting musical soundtrack that ranges from fragments of folk songs (sung by Patty Griffin) to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
