Nasdaq Up 3% for the Week Despite Conflicting News Despite conflicting news from technology companies, the Nasdaq composite index ended the week 3 percent higher. The Nasdaq fell 48.90 points, or 2.2 percent, to close at 2,215.10. It closed at 2,149.44 last Friday. Elsewhere, the Dow Jones industrial average dropped 113.74 points, or 1 percent, to 10,977.00, while the broader Standard & Poor's 500-stock index declined 12 points, or 0.9 percent, to 1,2964.96. Both indexes were virtually unchanged for the week. [Page C3.] Nasdaq has started a trading system for its Nasdaq Europe subsidiary, with several big investment banks buying shares. [C3.]
