A front-page article yesterday about the removal of Maj. Gen. George W. Weightman from command of Walter Reed Army Medical Center erroneously ascribed his academic and professional achievements to another officer. It is General Weightman who was educated at West Point and the University of Vermont and was land component command surgeon during the 2003 invasion of Iraq  not Lt. Gen. Kevin Kiley, the Army’s top medical officer.

An article in Science Times on Tuesday about whether duct tape can remove warts referred imprecisely to the publication of a study on the subject. While the study did appear last month in The Journal of Family Practice, it was originally published in November in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.

A front-page picture caption on Feb. 3 about polar bears floating on chunks of glacial ice, illustrating an article on a global warming report, carried incorrect information from the Canadian Ice Service about when and where the photograph was taken, and about who took it. The picture was taken in August 2006 in the Chukchi Sea, not in 2004 in the Bering Sea, farther south. The photographer was Amanda Byrd, not Dan Crosbie.
