Corrections

An article on Friday about a study of the health and mental acuity of the elderly omitted part of the name of a retirement community in Southern California that is at the heart of the study. It is Laguna Woods Village, not Laguna Woods. (The retirement community makes up about 90 percent of the city of Laguna Woods.) 

An article Tuesday about the merger plans of two telephone companies, Bharti Airtel of India and the MTN Group of South Africa, misstated the size of the combined company relative to other telephone companies. The new company would be the third largest wireless telecommunications company in terms of subscribers  not the third largest over all, which is Telefónica of Spain.

A caption on Sunday with an article about “The Dickson Baseball Dictionary,” an illustrated survey of the language of baseball, gave an incorrect identification from the Library of Congress for an actor, shown in a picture from the book, playing softball with Paul Robeson and other actors in Central Park in the 1940s. He was Louis Calhern, not José Ferrer. (Paul Dickson, who wrote the book, said the mistake would be corrected in future printings.)

An obituary on Friday about the Canadian modernist architect Arthur Erickson misspelled the middle name of the Canadian prime minister who awarded him the commission to design the Canadian embassy in Washington. He was Pierre Elliott Trudeau, not Elliot. 

An article on Wednesday about art acquired for the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a museum expected to open by 2013, misidentified the official who discussed the museum in a telephone interview. He is Sheik Sultan bin Tahnoon al-Nahyan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage  not Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the crown prince, who took part in a ceremony on Tuesday, along with Sheik Sultan, for the opening of an exhibition of some of the artworks at a hotel. 

Until about mid-May, when prices of 10-year securities topped 100 cents on the dollar, government bonds looked like a good bet.
