An article on June 13 about the stress in China caused by the annual college entrance exam, a nine-hour marathon taken by 10 million students competing for roughly 6 million spots, mistranslated a Chinese proverb sometimes invoked to describe the ordeal. It is like a stampede of “thousands of soldiers and tens of thousands of horses across a single log bridge”  not “a thousand soldiers and 10 horses across a single log bridge.”

Because of an editing error, an article on Monday about an art event in Reno, Nev., in which artists rent hotel rooms and turn them into art misstated the rate the artists pay for rooms. It is about $150 a week, not $150 a night.

A picture caption with the Westchester Calendar in some copies on June 14 and a calendar listing in some copies on Sunday, about a three-dimensional presentation on historic Manhattan scheduled for Saturday at the Beczak Environmental Education Center in Yonkers, misstated the center’s phone number. It is (914) 377-1900.

The Advertising column on Thursday, about Nascar’s efforts to bring its sponsors together to increase one another’s businesses, misstated Cheerios’ current Nascar promotion. It has joined Richard Childress Racing as primary sponsor of Clint Bowyer’s Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet. Cheerios, which has sponsored Nascar teams for 12 seasons, has not withdrawn its sponsorship. (General Mills, the parent company of Cheerios, stopped sponsoring the Petty Enterprise Nascar team last season.)
