An article last Sunday about extrajudicial killings by the police in India overstated what is known about the cause of a train fire in 2002 that killed Hindu pilgrims in the Indian state of Gujarat, which led to deadly anti-Muslim riots there and may have contributed to what rights activists called an atmosphere in which extrajudicial police killings of Muslim suspects were encouraged. While the Gujarat government concluded the fire was a Muslim attack, that finding has been disputed by a central government investigation, which concluded the fire was an accident.

An article last Sunday about the possibility that the Cayman Islands, a tax haven, may have to impose taxes to close a budget gap misstated the date that the leader of the Cayman government, W. McKeeva Bush, was holed up in a hotel conference room for a meeting with business leaders. It was on Sept. 24, not “late last week” (the week of Sept. 27).

The “Sunday Routine” feature last Sunday, about Padma Lakshmi, the host of “Top Chef,” referred incorrectly to Ganesh, the Hindu deity whom Ms. Lakshmi honors during a monthly visit to the Ganesh Temple in Flushing, Queens. Ganesh is a god, not a goddess.
