A picture caption on Wednesday with a report in the Reuters Breakingviews column about the costs of Toyota’s recent recalls misidentified the auto part being repaired on a Toyota Camry. It is the gas pedal, not the brake pedal.

An article on Jan. 31 about the promotional hype before the first Super Bowl, in 1967, erroneously attributed a proper name to the trophy presented to the winner. The award, which is now called the Vince Lombardi Trophy, was initially inscribed with the words “World Professional Football Championship” and was referred to generically as the world championship trophy; it was not called the Titletown Trophy. The article also referred incorrectly to the origin of the term Super Bowl. While the game was informally referred to as the Super Bowl from the beginning, Pete Rozelle, the commissioner of the National Football League, did not adopt the name right away.

An obituary on Wednesday about the actor Ian Carmichael misidentified the role he played in the play “Simon and Laura” and the subsequent film version. He played David, a supporting character, not Simon.

An obituary on Sunday about the physicist Geoffrey Burbidge misidentified one of the places where he and his wife, E. Margaret Burbidge, worked in the 1960s. It was the University of Chicago’s Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, Wis.  not the University of Wisconsin.

An obituary on Jan. 24 about the actress Jean Simmons referred incorrectly to the movie “Footsteps in the Fog,” in which she starred with her husband, Stewart Granger. It was a British film, not an American one.

Lee Alexander McQueen was a British fashion designer and couturier. He founded his own Alexander McQueen label in 1992 and was chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001. His achievements in fashion earned him four British Designer of the Year awards, as well as the Council of Fashion Designers of America International Designer of the Year award in 2003. McQueen died by suicide in 2010 at the age of 40, at his home in Mayfair, London, shortly after the death of his mother.
