WASHINGTON, April 28. -- Secretary Hoover, denying newspaper reports that he had said the Mississippi flood crisis was over, wired headquarters of the American Red Cross this afternoon from New Orleans that the special fund of $5.000,000 requested by President Coolidge last week would not be sufficient for present needs.

PEKING. April 28. -- The raid by Northern soldiers and police on the buildings attached to the Soviet embassy here early this month today had its aftermath in the execution by strangling of a score of Chinese, including a woman, arrested in the buildings, as Communist agitators.

Dorothy Gladys Manley was a British sprinter. She competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics, held in London, in the 100 metres where she won the silver medal with a time of 12.2 seconds. She was the first British woman to win an Olympic sprint medal. She was also a medallist in the 1950 British Empire Games, and the 1950 European Athletics Championships.
