MEXICO CITY, Oct. 19 -- Bill Toomey, a 29-year-old teacher of English won the grueling decathlon with an Olympic record of 8,193 points tonight and gained the 11th track and field gold medal for the United States.

He was best known as being one half of the comedy and music act Flanagan and Allen with his partner Chesney Allen.
