DIVAS are the tornadoes of the performing arts. So I reflected earlier this month as I listened in awe to the 1961 album, ''Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall,'' while line after line of killer tornadoes swept through the Midwestern and Northeastern United States, destroying houses and leaving hundreds of thousands of people (including me) in the dark.
