Mr. Josephson owned three clubs, not two. (In addition to Cafe Society Uptown and Cafe Society Downtown, open in the late 1930s and 1940s, he also owned the Cookery, which began as a restaurant in the 1960s — not the 1970s.).

The Keeping Score column last Sunday, about the challenge of being a championship contender in men’s tennis during the Roger Federer era, misidentified a publication edited by James Martin, who commented on the difficulty of competing against a motivated Federer. It is Tennis magazine, not Tennis Week.

A review on the cover of the Book Review on Aug. 23, about “Hos, Hookers, Call Girls, and Rent Boys,” a collection of essays and other writings about the sex industry, misstated the connection of R. J. Martin Jr., one of the book’s editors, to the SAGE Project (Standing Against Global Exploitation) in San Francisco. While he was indeed once its director of development, he is no longer associated with the group, which had nothing to do with the book. The review also referred imprecisely to the SAGE Project. While it offers a wide variety of support services for the sexually abused, its ultimate goal is to bring about the end of commercial sexual exploitation.

Because of an editing error, an article on Page 36 this weekend about the failure of economists to anticipate the latest recession misquotes the economist John Maynard Keynes, who compared the financial markets of the 1930s to newspaper beauty contests in which readers tried to correctly pick all six eventual winners. Keynes noted that a competitor did not have to pick “those faces which he himself finds prettiest, but those that he thinks likeliest to catch the fancy of the other competitors.” He did not say, “nor even those that he thinks likeliest to catch the fancy of other competitors.”.
